Current SEAI grant position
Ceiling-level attic insulation is a potential Individual Grant measure for qualifying homes. Stored grant amounts range from up to €1,100 for an apartment to up to €2,000 for a detached house. Enhanced amounts may apply in specific first-time-buyer or qualifying welfare-payment circumstances.

What the work involves
Ceiling-level insulation is installed at attic-floor level. Existing insulation depth and condition matter: removing, levelling or adding to old insulation may be needed before the target build-up can be installed. This is different from insulating along rafters or converting a roof space into a room.
Access, stored belongings, water tanks, pipework, cables and ventilation paths can affect both the method and the time required. Ventilation at eaves and around the roof must not be blocked.

- protecting access hatches, tanks, pipes and electrical equipment
- checking roof ventilation and avoiding condensation risks
- clearing the attic and making safe access available
