Current SEAI grant position
External wall insulation is a potential Individual Grant measure for qualifying homes. The stored grant amounts are up to €8,000 for a detached house, €6,000 for a semi-detached home, €3,500 for a terraced home and €3,000 for an apartment.
The property must meet the current age, occupancy, fabric and application requirements. The grant is not guaranteed, and all external walls may need to be treated for the relevant grant route. Check the official SEAI wall-insulation information before planning the work.
What affects the cost?
Wall area, dwelling shape, access, insulation specification and the chosen external finish all affect the installed price. Detailing around corners, reveals, roof edges, plinths and thresholds can be as important as the insulation boards themselves.
Windows, sills, external doors, pipes, vents, meters, lights and other fittings may need to be extended, moved or carefully detailed. Render, brick-effect finishes and other finishes can also change the project scope.
